Short Biography:

Dr. JS Keshminder has served Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) for 15 years and still counting (2006 – ongoing). He recently ended his tenure as the Coordinator of Research and Innovation at the Faculty of Business and Management, UiTM. This unit specifically looked into the development of research and innovation among academics in the Faculty. Besides, he has played a vital role in various projects at the University and Faculty levels.

 

His research interest is in the green economy, specifically looking into eco-innovation, green Sukuk, green jobs, the gig economy and urban agriculture. He also exhibits a keen interest in data analytics and case study writing; therefore, he masters qualitative and quantitative research approaches for data analysis. He works with various analytic tools in conducting economic and business analysis, namely: Microsoft Excel, SPSS, Smart-PLS, Nvivo and others. He has published three books: “Introduction to Business Analytics: Essential Skills for the Data Analyst”, “Tableau: For Beginners – Manual”, and “Short Business Case Study Compilations”.

 

He has published in journals indexed in WOS and Scopus, such as Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, Qualitative Research in Financial Markets, Institutions and Economies, Malaysian Journal of Economic Studies, and the Malaysian Journal of Consumer and Family Economics. In addition, He has also participated in numerous consultancy projects in which he has served as a consultant, resource person and subject matter expert. This including, among others, Kajian Impak dan Rantaian Nilai Pertanian Bandar Komuniti (MARDI) (year 2021-2022), 2020 Le Tour De Langkawi Economic Evaluation (Human Voyage) (2019-2020), Kajian Feasibility Pasar Tani Kekal Di

Cameron Highlands (FAMA) (2019-2020), Kajian Impak 20 Tahun Penubuhan UiTM (UiTM) (2019- 2020).

 

Besides consultancy projects, he is the recipient of various national and UiTM internal grants. This including, among others, the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme by the Ministry of Education Malaysia (Title: Modelling and Industry Oriented Training Structure to Increase Ex-offenders Employability and Mobility) (the year 2019-2021), Geran Inisiatif Penyeliaan (GIP) UiTM (Title: Green Sukuk – Business Model and Challenges in Malaysia (the year 2019-2020), Dana Dalaman Fakulti (DDF) UiTM (Title: Personal Financial Management Behaviour) (the year 2019-2019).

 

In addition, he frequently provides opinions and views on economic matters in local news media like RTM and BERNAMA. His latest published articles are “Don’t Neglect the Middle-Class Engine of Growth” in The Edge Markets, “COVID-19’s role in boosting e-commerce and restoring market mechanism” in BERNAMA (2020), and “Are Employers in Malaysia Ready to Hire Ex-offenders?” in New Straits Times (NST).
