Biography
Md. Tanvir Ahmed is an accomplished academic and researcher in the field of Civil and Environmental Engineering, with a strong commitment to sustainable infrastructure and environmental protection. He began his academic career at the World University of Bangladesh on May 27, 2015.
Throughout his teaching career, Mr. Ahmed has been actively engaged in both theoretical and laboratory courses. He has taught a wide range of subjects, including Solid Waste Management, Waste Water Engineering, Water Supply Engineering etc. His teaching approach integrates practical applications with theoretical knowledge, helping students bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world engineering challenges.
Mr. Ahmed’s research interests lie primarily in the field of environmental engineering, with a strong focus on wastewater treatment, water quality modeling, solid waste management, and air and noise pollution control. He is particularly interested in developing cost-effective and sustainable solutions for urban environmental problems in Bangladesh. His research explores innovative treatment methods for industrial and domestic wastewater, modeling of pollutant transport in natural water bodies, and the assessment of environmental impacts due to urbanization and industrial growth.
In addition to his teaching and research roles, Mr. Ahmed has held key administrative responsibilities as the Department Coordinator from January 2017 to November 2019 and again from January 2022 to November 2023. These roles allowed him to contribute significantly to academic planning, curriculum development, and departmental management.
He is currently pursuing his Master of Science in Environmental Engineering at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), where his studies further strengthen his expertise in sustainable water and waste management practices.
Beyond his academic and research endeavors, Mr. Ahmed possesses strong computing and analytical skills. He has extensive proficiency in engineering and statistical software, including ETABS, AutoCAD, SPSS which he effectively applies in both academic research and professional practice.
