Transportation Engineering Lab

This lab supports the design, evaluation, and maintenance of roadways and traffic systems. It houses equipment to test pavement materials and simulate traffic behavior, ensuring safe, efficient, and long-lasting transportation infrastructure.

Key Activities
  • Perform penetration, ductility, softening point, and viscosity tests on bitumen and asphalt binders.
  • Conduct Marshall stability and flow tests for asphalt mix design.
  • Analyze aggregate impact value, crushing value, and abrasion resistance for road base layers.
  • Simulate traffic flow using miniature models and software to study congestion and signal timing.
  • Design flexible and rigid pavements using empirical and mechanistic-empirical methods.
