Biography
Md. Mamun Mia is currently serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) since September 23, 2025. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), where he developed a strong foundation in core civil engineering disciplines with a particular focus on Geotechnical Engineering.
His undergraduate thesis, titled βEvaluation of Bearing Capacity of Shallow Foundation and Settlement Prediction Using Avaqus Software,β examined the effects of layer thickness and soil stabilization on the bearing capacity of shallow foundations through numerical modeling and comparative analysis. The study reflected his growing interest in computational geotechnics and soilβstructure interaction.
He is currently pursuing his M.Sc. in Structural Engineering at RUET, where his research interests extend toward structural behavior, concrete technology, and performance-based design. His broader academic and research interests include geotechnical engineering, soil stabilization, foundation design, and sustainable infrastructure development.
At WUB, he is actively engaged in teaching undergraduate civil engineering courses, guiding student research and thesis projects, and participating in various academic and co-curricular initiatives within the department. He is passionate about integrating research-driven and practical learning approaches into civil engineering education and aspires to contribute to the development of safe, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure systems in Bangladesh.
