Biography
Mithun Khan is a Lecturer in Physics at the Basic Science Division of the World University of Bangladesh, where he has been serving since May 2024. With a strong passion for teaching and research, he aims to inspire students to explore science and technology through self-study and innovation. Mithun Khan holds both B.Sc. and M.S. degrees in Physics from Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST), where he achieved outstanding academic results, securing the 2nd and 3rd positions in his department during his undergraduate and graduate studies, respectively.
Mithun’s research interests are focused on Computational Solid State Physics and Materials Science, particularly in superconductors, multi-principal element alloys (medium/high entropy alloys), perovskite materials, semiconductors, and topological semimetals. He has published 19 articles in Scopus-indexed, peer-reviewed international journals, with several in high-impact Q1 journals. His recent works have addressed cutting-edge topics such as band gap engineering, optoelectronic properties, and the mechanical behavior of advanced materials under pressure. He is proficient in various simulation tools, including VASP, LAMMPS, and CASTEP, and programming languages like C and FORTRAN.
He has received multiple awards, including the National Science and Technology Fellowship, recognizing his commitment to advancing science and technology. Apart from his academic achievements, Mithun actively contributes to enhancing education quality through his engaging teaching methods. He has a wealth of experience teaching physics at undergraduate levels and is currently leading a Physics-I and Physics-II Lab course for students.
Mithun Khan aspires to advance knowledge in physics through impactful research and teaching, aiming to contribute meaningfully to the scientific community and the development of future scientists.
