Inauguration of Lab Corner for the Project Work (SRG-242310) Under the Special Research Allocation Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Bangladesh
The inauguration of the project corner for the research project titled “Development and Characterization of Locally Available Natural Fiber Reinforced Polypropylene (PP) Matrix Based Partially Degradable Composites for Civil Construction” (Project ID: SRG-242310) was held on 24 May 2025 at Room B02, Department of Textile Engineering, World University of Bangladesh.
This project exemplifies the World University of Bangladesh's commitment to providing direct assistance for start-ups that foster and support a low-carbon economy. By developing sustainable, biodegradable composite materials for the construction industry, the research directly contributes to green technology innovation. The dedicated lab corner serves as an essential incubation space where innovative ideas can be prototyped and tested, providing the foundational R&D support necessary for launching eco-friendly ventures.
The program was honored by the presence of Prof. Zaki Imam, Registrar; Dr. Ruhul Amin Khan, Advisor, Department of Textile Engineering; Md. Kamrul Hossain, Joint Registrar; A.N. Ahsan Touhid Milton, Joint Registrar; Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Principal Investigator and Head, Department of Textile Engineering & Fashion Design; and Mohammad Bellal Hoque, Associate Investigator and Senior Lecturer, Department of Textile Engineering & Fashion Design.
Four enthusiastic students from the Department of Textile Engineering & Fashion Design are actively participating as fellow researchers in this innovative project. Additionally, students of the Department of Textile Engineering & Fashion Design were present in this program and demonstrated their support and interest in research and innovation.
Both the Registrar and the Advisor encouraged students to engage deeply with research and emphasized the importance of innovation and sustainability in the field of Textile Engineering, highlighting the university's role in nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs in the green technology sector.
The lab is now ready to fabricate natural fibrous composites and marks a significant milestone in the research and development journey at the World University of Bangladesh, establishing a crucial resource for pioneering sustainable materials and supporting the ecosystem for low-carbon start-ups.
